Tips for Greater Accuracy in Hindi Typing
Speed is often considered as a mark of achievement in typing competitions but is utterly meaningless in government typing exams. With typing speeds of 60 WPM or 35 WPM, someone with 85% accuracy will never pass and 99% accuracy will consistently pass. Typing in a 2-minute test, where the examiner looks for more mistakes than the allotted time for errors, is proof that speed is not a sign of achievement. These Hindi Typing tests will help you build a ‘mistake-proof’ typing foundation that will remain unshaken in an examination hall
Understanding the “Cost of a Mistake”
Most exams use harassment as a measure of an error. For example, in some evaluations of the SSC, for every incorrect word, five words correct are subtracted from your net score. So one mistake not only reduces your accuracy but also takes away your effort. So, while practicing lesson 25, have a pscyhosis of ‘No mistakes’ attitude. Go slower, and make zero mistakes. It’s more desirable to be 5 WPM slower than to make three mistakes. Your brain will gain more certainty from correct placements of the keys than from incorrect typing. Accuracy will lead to an increase in speed as time goes.
The Backspace Key: Psychological Aid or Culprit?
The Backspace key hinders speed – it forces a mental process three times: thinking of a faulty character and backspacing it, and then thinking of the correct character. Even worse, the key disrupts a user’s flow and typing rhythm. One of the best tips to improve typing accuracy in Hindi is to implement a \”No Backspace\” rule. To further enhance this, a test of two minutes without using backspace is encouraged. This condition is more or less a way of forcing the user’s brain to think of every character entered very carefully, retraining it to achieve a high level of accuracy at a fast speed.
Test Analysis: The Mistakes
Simply looking at WPM is a crude measure of the speed of a typist. After conducting several tests, it is time to conduct post-test analysis to discover the types of mistakes. To do this, typists should develop a mental checklist of characters that typically cause errors. Assess the Mistakes and Errors sections of the typist’s post-test analysis and review any characters that are problematic. If you find that you have an enemy character, the best course of action is to spend more time honing in on this character before performing the test again.
Strive to eliminate weak points one at a time. If more than one weak character is observed, stay calm and focused on the next character. Good luck.
